Key Points
- The Bell of the Bovine is a random drop that appears after defeating Moophisto.
- You need the Bell of the Bovine to get into the secret Cow level without any player’s help.
- The drop rate for the Bell of the Bovine depends on RNG, but it can be farmed AFK too.
The Bell of the Bovine is an important item in Diablo 4 that allows you to summon more cows and convert different days of the week for cow farming (or rather, killing). Unfortunately, the drop rate for this particular item is not the greatest, but you don’t have to stick around for the boss fight if you wish to own this item.

How to Farm the Bell of the Bovine

To get the Bell of the Bovine, you need to fight Moophisto inside the Bovine Sanctum. I recommend teaming up with other players for this, so you can stay back while others try to defeat the boss. Since the drop chance is random, it will take a lot of time and resources if you end up fighting the boss yourself. You could stand back and let others do the damage while you wait for the rewards to appear.
Sometimes, it could take several hours or even a day of fighting Moophisto several times before the Bell of the Bovine drops as part of the boss loot pool. If you are lucky, you could also find the Brisket of the Bovine within the reward pool, which is one part of the new Bovine armor set in Diablo 4. Just remember to join any party that is heading towards the Bovine Sanctum to increase your chances.
How to Summon Moophisto
Before you can start the Moophisto boss fight, you need to learn how to summon the boss first. For that, collect 5x Prime Ribs by fighting the Cow King at the Secret Cow Level. You can ask your friends to help you into the cow level if you don’t want to redo the questline again. Then, make your way to Tyrael’s Encampment located at Atanos and head east.
You could also go south of Akarat’s Bulwark to find a platform named the Altar of the Heifer. Interact with it to be transported to the Bovine Sanctum, bringing you one step closer to the boss fight. Now all you need to do is walk inside the sanctum and find the other altar that will accept your offering of Prime Ribs. This will immediately summon Moophisto, and you can either test your skills against it or let others do all the work.
FAQs
What does the Bell of the Bovine do?
The Bell of the Bovine will now convert Mondays into Tuesdays, giving you two days to farm cow kills in Scylara’s Forelorn Chamber for the three cow relics. The Bell of the Bovine can also summon cows in battle, as it has a 30% chance to Moo while hitting enemies and a 50% chance to summon an exploding cow after a successful Moo. Also, your fire damage increases by 50% on Tuesdays.
I accidentally logged out after defeating Moophisto; what do I do?
After logging back into the game, you can visit your Stash and select the Missed Equipment tab to find all your missed loot. Do be careful, as some loot won’t appear here, so it is always best to ask your friends to pick the rewards up for you if you are leaving or having issues.
Is the Bell of the Bovine necessary?
Yes, you will require several cow deaths to get the relics and unlock the secret sheep level, so what better way than to equip and use the Bell of the Bovine for faster farming?
