RE9 – How to Get & Use Corrosive

By Santosh PandaMarch 2, 20263 Mins Read

    Key Points

    • First, you will need to obtain a Corrosive bottle to destroy the padlock.
    • The second part of the puzzle revolves around pressing four codes in a specific order to open up the safe.
    • Nothing in the puzzles is random; the location of the Corrosive bottle and the solution for the box puzzle stay the same.

You will see a padlock on an object in the Lead Researcher’s Office in the Care Center when playing RE9. There is no key to open the padlock; instead, we must dissolve it with Corrosive acid.

The puzzle box is located inside the Lead Researcher’s Office, and the Corrosive bottle is found in the room next to it. But the journey will not be a stroll through a park; prepare to fend off many zombies on your way to obtain the item. I will recommend shooting and getting out instead of focusing on killing them.

    Getting the Corrosive

First, get out of the Lead Researcher’s Office and take the path to the left to reach the Conference Room. You probably remember this area as your encounter with the Chunk monster. Once you get closer, you will hear zombies, so crawl your way inside the room.

    • Inside, you will not be alone, so prepare for a fight to fend off a few zombies. Get to the back of the Conference Room, and you will find the Corrosive bottle in a cupboard.

That’s it, now we have the Corrosive in the inventory, we can go back to the Lead Researcher’s Office to complete the second phase.

Again, be prepared to face some zombies on your way out of the Conference Room.

    Solving the Box Puzzle

    Resident Evil 9 Puzzle Solution

Once you are in the Lead Researcher’s Office, a cutscene will trigger. Skip it, and then head to the padlock behind the desk. Use the Corrosive bottle to dissolve the lock to open up the Sun, Moon, and Star puzzle.

Solution: Check the desk in the room, you will find a photograph showing the last two portions of the puzzle solution. Then take a look at another photograph on the top of the drawer, showing the first two portions of the puzzle.

    Star > Sun > Moon > Sun

    • First: Press the Star button once.
    • Second: Press the Sun button once.
    • Third: Press the Moon button once.
    • Fourth: Press the Sun button once.

The safe will now open, and you will get the Sun Quartz item from inside. And you will also get a Leatherbound Notebook.
