MENACE is the newest turn-based RPG to launch, and planning your strategy against the enemy requires tact. Besides learning how to attack the opponent, you also need to learn how to defend yourself. The game doesn’t provide a proper explanation on how to efficiently defend your base from enemies, so you might resort to experimenting with various formations before you find one that works.
How to Defend Base in MENACE

When starting a defense mission, keep an eye on where the blue outlined area starts and ends. This is your defense line, and you need to protect it from enemy infiltration. The progress bar on the right also acts as your health bar, and this gets depleted each time an enemy infiltrates your base. To stop enemies from getting closer, there are a few tips to keep in mind.
Deal with Incoming Vehicles
Your first line of defense is to focus more on incoming vehicles. Use AT squads and rocket vehicles to guard the corners. Your goal here is to get at least one vehicle kill per turn, so focus on your squad placement at the borders. Use this time to suppress enemy squads, as enemies who are suppressed or pinned down won’t hamper the health of your base.
Using the Right Troops and Equipment
Set up demolition charges or Satchel charges around the outskirts of your base, which is especially handy if your map doesn’t have towers. You can set them up in the corners as single lines that take up 1 full square. As for defending the inside of your base, infantry and specialised squads will take care of any infiltration.
Using Scouts
The Falcon drone is one of the best pieces of equipment out there to scout out the perimeter and plan your troop placement. Plus, enemies tend to waste turns trying to bring the drone down, which gives you more time. Darby’s vision perk is also great at giving the battlefield an overview, which will improve your planning and placement.
Rocket Launchers and Guns

Equipping your vehicles with the rocket launcher is best to push back the enemy troops. Position your rocket launcher close to where you find maximum infiltration after scouting the area. Also, long-range weapons like the machine gun will help push back and damage vehicles quickly.
Positioning is Key
Your setup is just as important as having the best troops or vehicles to defend. Focus more on placing your best units around the borders of the base. Doing so will keep a tab on where the enemy is coming from, plus you will get a headstart on landing your initial attacks. Utilize vehicle wrecks and machine guns to force the enemy into tight spaces.
Squad Leader Abilities
If you have Darby in your team, then use her sniping ability to take down enemy vehicles. This is especially helpful if your map offers towers. Rewa’s vehicles help push back enemies and take the upper hand. Pike’s support skills will prove highly useful in the early stages, and Lim is great at tackling pinned enemies. Pairing up the squad leaders and using their skills in conjunction will offer much more resilience, helping you plan your strategy more efficiently.
