If the Unfettered Rope Dart is locked in your game, then you must finish a particular quest to unlock it. The mission will be tough, depending on your liking of stealth. Here’s how to go about doing this is Where Winds Meet.

While you can rush towards the goal to complete the quest, you will miss out on all the chests carrying loot. I will recommend using the Wind Sense to detect the chests and looting them before heading for the final objective.
Getting to Nether Crossing
Make your way to the Ghostlight Market fast travel point in Kaifeng City in Kaifeng. You will find the travel point north of the city. Now move west from the Ghostlight Market fast travel point to meet Tianyan NPC near the Phantom’s Hollow section of the Ghostlight Market.
You will find him standing on a rift in the water. After striking up a conversation, he will ask you to pay him 999 Zhou Coins to take you to the Nether Crossing. Agree to pay the money to get to the location.
Stealing the Skill
In the underground section, we have two tasks to deal with, one is optional, and the other is our primary objective: Collect Chest 6 and Martial Art Skill Theft 1.
- Get inside the cave, follow the route until you arrive at the wooden bridge with guards. Here, dive right into the water to sneak past them without catching their attention.
Note: Press the ALT key to dive into the water.
- Follow the skill objective marker underwater and use wind sense to locate the chests on your left, loot the Chest #1(Jade Fish x 15/ Enlightenment x30), then keep following the objective marker to the skill.
Chest #1: It contains x5 Echo Jade, x800 Coin, x1 Lv. 3 Ebon Iron, x1 Oscillating Jade, and x800 Stored EXP.
- After a short while, you will finally be out of water. Here, quickly take the rocky route to the right to assassinate the guard below. Take the wooden bridge, and silently kill the enemy behind its back.
The area will have two more enemies, but they can be easily assassinated. Just make sure to track their vision range before going for the kill.
Note: Clean the area using V on your keyboard to see enemies’ vision cones to locate their position.
- Head towards the large window to the library. Your progress will be saved. If you do make a mistake here, you will spawn at this point. But before jumping into the library, take the path on the right, climb the ladder to grab the Chest #2 (Jade Fish x 15/ Enlightenment x30).
Chest #2: It contains x5 Echo Jade, x800 Coin, x5 Kaifeng Exploration, x1 Oscillating Jade, and x800 Stored EXP.
- Now get back to the door to the library, you will see a chest #3 (Jade Fish x 24/ Enlightenment x40)right out in the open, but with guards nearby having the chest in their line of sight. While you can do it the hard way, you can use Celestial Seize to grab the chest’s item at a distance.
Chest #3: It contains x10 Echo Jade, x1000 Coin, x8 Kaifeng Exploration, x2 Oscillating Jade, and x1000 Stored EXP.
- In the library, stay on top of the bookshelves to avoid getting detected. Use the air assassination skill to eliminate the guards safely without getting caught in their line of sight.
- Get out of the library. On your left, you will see a guard staring at your location. Take the path right and jump into the water. Don’t go to the path on the right, take the path left to grab the Chest #4 (Jade Fish x 15/ Enlightenment x30).
- Kill the guard in the middle of the water, behind his back. and then grab the chest on the nearby platform.
Chest #4: It contains x5 Echo Jade, x800 Coin, x5 Kaifeng Exploration, x1 Oscillating Jade, and x800 Stored EXP.
- Follow the route until you are blocked by two guards at a distance on the left. Here, jump into the water near the fire brazier. Under the waterfall, you will find the Chest #5 (Jade Fish x 24/ Enlightenment x40).
Chest #5: It contains x10 Echo Jade, x1000 Coin, x8 Kaifeng Exploration, x2 Oscillating Jade, and x1000 Stored EXP.
- From the last chest (Chest #5) location, get back to the water, stick to the right. And eventually, you will find a lone soldier on a platform with a golden chest in front of him. Kill him and loot the final Chest #6 (Jade Fish x 24/ Enlightenment x40)
Chest #6: It contains x10 Echo Jade, x5000 Coin, x8 Kaifeng Exploration, x2 Oscillating Jade, x1 Ten Direction Rope Dart, and x1000 Stored EXP.
That’s it, now you have looted all the chests, it’s time to follow the main objective marker and get to the eavesdropping spot. Now follow the QTE sequence to unlock the item.

What if I get detected in the Unfettered Rope Dart mission?
The worst aspect of the mission is its failure status, as you will immediately get sent to the failure menu when you get detected. Stay as far away from soldiers or disciples. Luckily, the game spawns you at the closest location to help you pick up the pace again.
How long is the mission?
It will last for a good 10 minutes or more, depending on your stealthiness level during the gameplay.
