Step #1 – Examine the survivor and decide their fate
On Day 14, I started my routine inspection to filter out all the survivors. Eventually, someone walked in with blood dripping out of their mouth. The survivor mentioned that he had been separated from his father and wished to wait for him at the checkpoint.
During the examination, besides the obvious bleeding from the mouth, he had no reflexes from the hammer and was sneezing a bit. I decided to send him to the Quarantine for observation, but you also have options to give him to the lab, eliminate him by liquidation, or send him to the Survivor’s Block.
Step #2 – Wait and see how the events unfold
There are various branches and outcomes once Day 15 rolls by. On Day 15, the father appears for check-in and mentions how he wishes to see his son. This is where your earlier choice plays a part in how this quest unfolds.
Send the Son to Quarantine
The son will either turn into a zombie or be eaten by another zombie. If you had killed the son or if he had been killed while in Quarantine, the father turns hostile and attacks you. Shoot him down to complete the quest. If the son is still alive in Quarantine, send the father to Quarantine, too, to complete the quest.
Send the Son to the Cage
If you have sent the son to the cage after turning, the father will mention that he wants to be with him. Send the father to the Survivor’s Block and wait for the next day. He will try to break into the Quarantine facility during that time and get shot. You could ship the son out during the next evac and complete the quest.
Kill the Son
Since the son shows signs of infection, you could outright kill him. Once day 15 comes by, when you tell the father about his son’s death, he turns hostile and tries to attack you. Shoot him down to complete the quest.
Send the Son to the Survivor’s Block
While in the Survivor’s Block, the son will turn and infect other survivors, or be eaten by any other infected if someone slips past. He will be shot down, and the father will turn hostile after learning about his son’s death. Killing him here will also complete the quest.
Send the Son for Liquidation or to the Lab
Sending the son to either of the two facilities will result in death. Out of the two, sending him to the lab will be more beneficial for research and get the infected bonus. The father will still be furious about his death and will turn hostile, so kill him to complete the quest.
