In Hytale, other worlds are parallel domains you can enter using an Orbis Fragment. These domains have certain requirements to open them, and also have a time limit for you to enter. If you do not exit them within the given time limit, a new portal breach opens.
Through it, hordes of enemy units attack you. If you survive three minutes with these enemy units, you are sent back to the main world. While fighting those enemy units can be an efficient way to farm Essence of Void, the worlds themselves are not fully complete.
How To Get the Ancient Gateway in Hytale
There are certain prerequisites before you craft the Ancient Gateway in Hytale. You need to complete the steps given below in the same order to unlock it:
Step 1: Collecting over 100 Memories
- If you are unfamiliar with the Memory System, head over to the Forbidden Temple marked by a tornado/whirlwind sign on your map.
- Next, collect 100 memories and submit them at the temple. You can collect various memories by exploring different biomes.
- On submitting 100 memories, you’ll unlock the recipe to craft an Ancient Gateway via your Arcanist’s Workbench.
Step 2: Upgrade Workbench to Tier 2
- Collect 30x Copper Ore to create 30x Copper Ingots. Copper is found in the caves of the Emerald Grove region.
- Collect 20x Iron Ore to create 20x Copper Ingots. Iron is found as you dig deeper in the caves of the Emerald Grove region.
- Collect 20x Linen Scraps. These can be found on the various humanoid creatures that attack you.
On collecting these resources, you will be able to upgrade your Workbench to Tier 2, which unlocks Arcanist’s Workbench.
Step 3: Craft Arcanist’s Workbench
- Collect 10x Thorium Ore to convert into 10x Thorium Ingot via your Furnace. This ore is present in abundance in the caves of the Howling Sands region.
- Collect 30x Linen Scraps.
- Collect 20x Essence of the Void, collected by farming creatures at night.
Craft an Arcanist’s Workbench using these resources. This workbench gives you the freedom to craft portals and the Ancient Gateway.
Step 4: Craft the Ancient Gateway
- Collect 30x Cobblestone by farming stone that has a dark grey shade and rocky texture found in the Emerald Grove.
- Collect 10x Thorium Ingot
- Collect 10x Essence of Life. These can be collected by harvesting food crops like Wheat and Tomato.
- Collect 10x Essence of the Void.
Use these four items to create an Ancient Gateway. Next, place it at a desired spot. But the work is not complete, as you need to craft the Orbis Fragments for each specific world.
Step 5: Craft the Orbis Fragments
- Dragonspire Weald Orbis Fragment – 10x Cobalt Ingot and 30x Essence of Ice. Both these resources are found by mining and defeating enemies in the Whisperfront Frontiers biome (icy region on your map).
- The Dread Wade Orbis Fragment – 10x Adamantite Ingot and 30x Essence of Fire. Mining and defeating enemies in the Devastated Lands biome are the ways to collect these (fiery region on your map).
- Windrider Valley Orbis Fragment – 10x Thorium Ingot and 30x Essence of Life. Thorium Ore is found in the Howling Sands biome, and the Essence of Life is collected by farming crops in the Emerald Grove biome.
After completing all these steps, you will be able to travel to various Other Worlds, given you have an Orbis Fragment of that world. These Other Worlds are the place where you will find the viral Ice Dragon from the Hytale trailer. However, like many other things, he is dormant and a WIP.
