Choice #1 – Embrace the Rot
Embracing the Rot will give the following perks:
- Followers will develop Rotten Traits and are immune to Sickness.
- Rotten followers do not require rest and will work day and night.
- Increases Faith per Rotten follower available in the cult.
- Unlocks Spore Generator. This consumes Corrupted Seeds to create Blighted Fertilizer.
- Using Blighted Fertilizer increases crop growth speed by 50%.
- Unlocks Ritual of the Fungal Bloom. With this, you will instantly harvest all crops at the risk of having two of your followers bedridden.
- Lamb gets to deal increased Poison damage.
Choice #2 – Purge the Rot
Purging the Rot will offer the following perks:
- Unlock the Sanctified Essence to create Incense Altars.
- Incense Altars will provide Faith regen passively and also prevent Sickness, even at low hygiene.
- Also unlocks the Apothecary Station to craft Purifying Balms.
- Purifying balms can be sold or used to remove negative traits from followers.
- Increases followers’ loyalty via gifts and sermons by 25%.
- Killing Rotten followers will add Faith.
- Unlocks Ritual of the Radiant Flock, which heals all sick followers. You could also claim max Faith for 3 days.
- Lamb gets to deal increased Holy damage and apply healing.
Best Choice
There are no right or wrong choices here, and it all depends on how you wish to play the game. For me, I chose to Embrace the Rot to increase the efficiency of my followers. Since they don’t require rest and they don’t fall sick, it gets easier to get work done around my base. Plus, they don’t consume a lot of resources, making it an ideal choice to keep my cult well off.
But choosing to Purge the Rot is also ideal if you wish to gain followers quickly. The whole point of Purging the Rot is to increase the speed at which followers gain loyalty and faith in your cult, which increases your cult’s population. It gets easier to draw followers, which improves production and provide excess followers for sacrifices. You will get several stations that help purify your base and keep sickness at bay.
