How to Collect Snowballs in Arc Raiders

The first step towards completing this particular mission is to stockpile snowballs. There’s no firm way to farm them, since they are procedurally generated everywhere in the game’s map. However, it shouldn’t take a long time to find plenty of them on a short walk. Snowballs can be collected from the snow mounds spread throughout the Cold Snap map regions. Here’s how you can collect snowballs:

    1. Approach the mound of snow as depicted in the image above.
    2. When you are close, a ‘Collect’ prompt will pop up.
    3. Each mound or snow pile will give you one snowball.
    4. Select a location wisely, taking frequent cover in buildings or rocks to reduce the risk of frostbite.
    5. Any map area with a Cold Snap Event will feature multiple snow piles.
    6. You can farm snowballs using the same snowpile, as it regenerates after a couple of moments.
    7. It should take you about 3-4 minutes to farm 20+ snowballs.
    8. Equip these snowballs in your Quik Use Slot so that they can be used at a moment’s notice.

I recommend that you pick up and stockpile at least 22-26 snowballs in your Quick Use Slot before you go looking for a rocketeer to make your target. Rocketeers can spawn in a lot of places in the map. So, you can start this mission simply by striking one with a snowball anywhere on the map, as soon as you see one flying overhead.

How to Throw Snowballs at Rocketeers Trial in Arc Raiders

Unlike the ticks in the previous season 2 challenge, the Rocketeer is a formidable adversary. So, I recommend that you strategically position yourself before attempting to attack it. Also, it’s important to note that you can’t destroy the Rocketeer. To complete this challenge, the Rocketeer must stay afloat even after you land 16 snowballs.

Here are some of the convenient strategies and associated locations to undertake this mission:

    1. Huck ’em plain and simple

Location: Anywhere in the Cold Snap event, preferably with open spaces.

This would be the easiest method, but it will also be quite difficult. One of the simplest ways to achieve three stars in this mission is simply squading up, or at least having one partner. One of you distracts the Rocketeer by slowly dragging them away from the other person, while the other person hucks the Rocketeer with snowballs. If it changes pursuit mid-attack, your tactic reverses.

Pro Tip: Use the Hornet Driver or the Showstopper to stun and slow down the Rocketeer. Hitting it with one of these two weapons will slow it down. It will be forced to fly much lower, making for a better aim. Furthermore, Showstopper will also slow down the Rocketeer’s flurry of attacks.

    2. Guerrilla Technique

Location: Hydroponics Dome Complex (Dam Battlegrounds), Control Tower (Spaceport), spots with loads of trees.

This is one of the ideal methods. It will take some time and effort, but you can complete this task on your own. It’s slow, but it’ll get the job done. Here’s how to go about it:

    1. Choose a place that offers you reasonable cover from all directions.
    2. Locate a tree in the Dam Battlegrounds or convenient cover spaces like the Control Tower in Spaceport.
    3. Look for a Rocketeer in the nearby area.
    4. Attack it to get its attention.
    5. Make it chase you and drag it towards your cover.
    6. Hide behind your cover and wait for the Rocketeer to stop its attack mode.
    7. Once it turns around to retreat, huck it with some snowballs.
    8. It will start charging up again, so take cover quickly.
    9. Repeat the cycle until you have landed 16 shots.

Pro Tip: If the Rocketeer isn’t backing away, try destroying two of its thrusters on the same side. It won’t be destroyed, but it will be forced to fly low, and its attack speed will be decreased. Use this to your advantage. You need to be careful using this method, as you don’t want to destroy the Rocketeer accidentally.

    3. Using the Snaphook

Location: Anywhere on the map (ideally near elevation), Hospital in the Buried City (has lots of windows on high floors)

This is a creative solution that may take a bit of trial-and-error. However, if it works, it will be the fastest and easiest technique to complete this challenge. Here’s what you do:

    1. Find a Rocketeer.
    2. Do not alert it by attacking.
    3. Follow it closely.
    4. Equip your Snaphook.
    5. Since the Rocketeer is flying, it’d be best if you could find some elevation, thereby making the Sanphook shot easy.
    6. I recommend trying the roofs of high-rise buildings, such as the Hospital in Buried City.
    7. Drag the Rocketeer closer to you and jump.
    8. Shoot the Rocketeer with Snaphook.
    9. Land on top of it.
    10. Spam it by hitting all snowballs in your inventory.
    11. Since you are on its back, it won’t be able to hit you back.

Pro Tip: You may need to try this method to get the Snaphook shot just right a couple of times. Buildings offer the best vantage point for the Snaphook shot, but increase the risk of fall damage if you miss the jump. You can also get this done from the ground.

    Tips to Achieve Clean Completion

    1. Back off immediately after you have landed 16 snowballs.
    2. Carry a Raider Hutch Key and do not miss the extraction.
    3. Extract immediately after earning 4000 points, or you might lose your entire progress in this challenge.
    4. Travel light, take frequent cover, and beware of frostbite risk.
    5. Try to complete this challenge with your squad.
    6. It’s entirely possible to complete this challenge solo, but it will be much safer to complete it with your teammates.

    FAQs

What is the best location to complete Throw Snowballs at Rocketeers trial?

Your choice of location should depend on your playstyle and strategy. The Buried City and Dam Battlegrounds provide you with plenty of cover to unleash a flurry of well-timed hidden attacks. You can use Lure Grenades to create distractions for the Rocketeer, so you can get a couple of snowballs in while it’s distracted. Blue Gate map will produce one of the biggest snowball mounds, allowing you to stockpile snowballs quickly and unleash hell by riding an unsuspecting Rocketeer.

Why can’t I access this challenge?

Throw Snowballs at Rocketeers challenge is only available on the Cold Snap Maps. This means that you will only be able to undertake this challenge in the snowy areas of the game. I recommend that you try the aforementioned areas, like Dam Battlegrounds, Blue Gate, Buried City, etc., to complete this challenge.

What will happen if I destroy the Rocketeer?

You will lose the challenge. You must land 16 snowballs on the same Rocketeer, and it must stay alive. If it dies, you will need to find another one and repeat the process.

How can I use this challenge to farm points?

Technically, you only need 4000 points to complete the challenge. However, you can exploit this challenge and make it an EXP farming opportunity. While this can be done solo, you’d have a much better chance with a teammate. Remember, each hit gives you 250 points. Here’s how you do it:

    1. Stockpile as many snowballs as possible.
    2. Stun the Rocketeer using Showstopper.
    3. Land as many snowballs as you can without it killing you.
