Dragon Ball Sparking Zero NEO DLC – What If Tien Went to Namek to Defeat Frieza

The new Neo DLC for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero introduces a whole roster of new characters and new abilities for each character too. You can now unlock and play as Tien in story mode to get one of the unique What If scenarios. If you are following the Saiyan Arc, you can unlock Tien’s final storyline; One’s Own Path. ​

​Tien Story Mode​

This is a new What If scenario that follows Tien’s journey if he didn’t die on Earth. At the start of Tien’s Saga Chapter 1, Tien will go up against Nappa and Vegeta. At this point, Yamcha will die at the hands of a Saibamen. As Tien goes up against Nappa, Goku will appear at the end of the fight and will stop Nappa from attacking Tien. Goku will then ask everyone to retreat while he is up against Vegeta.

While retreating, Tien, Gohan, Krillin, and Chiatzou will sense something is wrong. ​They go back to help Goku, only for Tien to end up fighting Vegeta’s Great Ape form. The hint here that helped me win is to lower Vegeta’s HP quickly using combos and super attacks until I got the hint to hit his tail. Tien wins the fight against Vegeta by using Tri-Beam on Vegeta’s tail, but at the cost of almost dying.

Luckily, he makes it and plans to head over to Namek to find all the Dragon Balls and revive his fallen friends. Goku agrees to join him in his quest, and the team leaves for Planet Namek after they have recovered.​

Searching for the Dragon Balls on Planet Namek​

Namek has been overtaken by Frieza’s soldiers, and Goku and Tien team up to help the villagers. They also notice the soldiers are dressed up as Vegeta, and Goku has a hunch that Vegeta has already been here. Tien and Goku meet a Namekian Child, who leads them to the Grand Elder of the village. Tien explains their predicament to him, of how Vegeta is after the Dragon Balls.​

The Grand Elder hands over one of his own Dragon Balls to help them on their journey. But just before Tien and Goku head out, they are stopped by Vegeta. While Vegeta does require the Dragon Ball that they possess, he and the Grand Elder sense something far more sinister coming their way. This marks the entrance of the Ginyu Force in Namek. Vegeta decides to put their differences aside and help Goku and team take them down.​

Defeating the Ginyu Force ​

While Goku, Tien, and Vegeta are up against each member of the Ginyu Force, Krillin, Gohan, and Chiatzou split up to find the rest of the Dragon Balls. Vegeta gets a whiff of what they were up to and quickly finishes up his fight against Jiece before chasing after the trio. Goku and Tien quickly follow suit after Captain Ginyu is down. ​

Luckily, Gohan, Chiatzou, and Krillin have located all the Dragon Balls and have made two out of the three wishes by then, which is to revive Piccolo and bring him to Planet Namek. After getting their wishes of having Piccolo and Kami alive and restoring Earth’s Dragon Balls, things take a turn for the worse when they realise that the Grand Elder is dead. At the same time, Frieza makes his appearance before the group.​

Frieza Appears​

Since the Dragon Balls have been used up, they turn to stone, which angers Frieza and Vegeta. But Vegeta still plans to help Goku and team defeat Frieza anyway. After Frieza’s transformation, Tien is up against him in battle first. Following Frieza’s second transformation, Goku goes against him next. The fight ends with Chiatzou making the final blow, but the fight isn’t over yet.​

Frieza unlocks his final transformation, while Tien and Vegeta try to recover their stamina. The group also learns that Goku plans on summoning a Spirit Bomb to take Frieza down, but he needs time. Piccolo joins the team by now, but Tien is still too weak to fight. He overhears Yamcha’s voice through King Kai, who encourages him to finish his fight against Frieza. ​

Tien vs. Frieza​

Tien and the others work to buy time for Goku’s spirit bomb, and after a while, Goku manages to hit Frieza with it. But that isn’t the end of the fight, as Frieza was just weakened and not dead. Frieza ends up hitting Goku in the chest with a laser beam, which knocks Goku out cold. While Frieza walks up to the group, Chiatzou decides to sacrifice himself by detonating on him. ​

But Frieza still walks over unscathed and ends up killing Krillin in the process. Tien finally gets overpowered and uses his Solar Flare skill with Multi Form to multiply himself, causing his attacks to hit tenfold. The fight continues between Frieza and Tien, with Vegeta taking over for a while in between. Towards the end, after Tien almost passes out, Goku emerges with his Ultimate Form.​

Tien vs. Goku​

Goku tells Tien and Vegeta to leave the battlefield, but not before Tien asks him for a rematch once all this is over. While Tien stares death in the face, the Namekian Child, who has been healing everyone, takes over and heals him while he is unconscious. After Tien regains consciousness, he learns that Goku has finally beaten Frieza, and everyone returns to Earth once more. Goku also used all the Dragon Balls to revive everyone from the dead. ​

As a fitting end to the Arc, Goku keeps his promise of having a rematch with Tien. The battle will be based on pure skill without ultimate attacks. After landing several of the newly learned combo moves, Tien will come out victorious in the fight, and this will end the storyline. ​

Is fighting Frezia easy?​

The fight with Frezia is pretty straightforward, but isn’t easy. You need to learn how to combo attack and also time your blocks so you don’t end up with too much damage.​

Is fighting Goku easy?​

Yes, even though you can’t use any of your special moves and should only depend on basic attacks for the fight, you will finish this fight quite easily against Goku.​

How do I get this storyline?​

You will automatically unlock this storyline after downloading the DLC and selecting Tien.
