How to Start the Deep Pond of Pear Blossoms Wandering Tale
You need to talk to Chen Baolai in his shop in the Sundries Market, located in Kaifeng City, to start this quest. Refer to the image above for the exact location of his shop. Use the Sundries Market Boundary Stone to reach his shop quickly. You can identify his shop by looking for a secluded shop that features a variety of Buddha statues on a table outside the shop’s door.
Chen Baolai will tell you that he’s been searching for a specific type of wine. Once prodded, he will point you towards another NPC called Hu Fu. You will need to locate him to ascertain the location of the famed Wine.
Locating Hu Fu
Hu Fu is a stone’s throw away from Chen’s shop. You can find him sweeping the street at the base of a staircase. Follow these directions to locate him quickly:
- Exit Chen Baolai’s shop.
- Walk straight, taking the road in front of the shop.
- You will find Hu Fu sweeping the street on the first corner, on the left side.
- If he is busy, wait a moment, go to the base of the stairs, and select the ‘Excuse Me’ prompt.
Hu Fu will point you towards the Forsaken Quarter. Use the Forsaken Quarter Boundary Stone to reach the location quickly.

Locating Pear Blossom Wine
Once you teleport to the Forsaken Quarter, refer to the image above to find the location of the Tree near the well. Travel through Euphoria Den to locate a blossoming tree beside a covered well. You can find the Pear Blossom Wine, along with some Wild Mushrooms, beneath this tree.
Finishing the Deep Pond of Pear Blossoms Wandering Tale
Return to Chen Baolai’s shop and give him this unique Pear Blossom Wine to gain rewards and complete this Wandering Tale. Travel to Sundries Market using the Boundary Stone and head to his shop. You will find Chen waiting for you outside his shop.

Why can’t I locate Chen Baolai in his shop?
Chen Baolai won’t be standing behind the counter. You can find him resting inside the shop. Enter his shop and turn right. You will find him lying down and talking to himself. If he’s not there, try looking for him on the Northern Bridge to Imperial Palace.
Why can’t I talk to Hu Fu?
Sometimes, the game won’t allow you to talk to Hu Fu, stating that he is busy. If this happens, cross him and try going up the stairs. Once you reach the base of the stairs, a prompt with ‘Excuse Me’ will pop up. Select this prompt to engage him in conversation.
What would happen if I do not return the Pear Blossom Wine to Baolai?
You will keep the Wine in your inventory. However, the Wandering Tale will remain incomplete. Since you can’t use this Wine yourself, I strongly recommend returning the Wine to Baolai and getting rewards.
